Crisp George III period mourning ring with East India Company interest.

The 22 carat band features a beautiful trellis pattern with Gothic letters applied for 'In Memory Of'. The interior is marked with London hallmarks for 1814 and the maker WH (William Holmes).

The inscription reads 'Rob.Beauchamp who died at Bangalore, 23rd May 1813'

Captain  Robert Beauchamp-Proctor was born 1 April and baptised at Langley Park the ancestral home, 4 May 1787 third son of Sir Thomas Beauchamp-Proctor, 2nd Baronet.

He became an officer in the Madras Horse Artillery (Cadet, 1801; Lt., 1804; Capt. 1810); and died unmarried at Bangalore (India), 23 May 1813.
