A fede ring is a design of ring in which two hands meet and are clasped in friendship, love or betrothal. The design dates back to Ancient Rome. It became prominent in the medieval period from the 12th century onwards.
 The name fede is from the Italian phrase 'mani in fede' or hands clasped in faith.
