Early c19th banded agate cameo ring depicting a gryllus with conjoined heads of a beautiful youth,a bearded man,a satyr and a ram.

The term is derived from the Ancient Greek word for caricature,and these comic and bizarre combinations of human and animal forms are often represented in the glyptic arts(cameos and intaglios)of Ancient Greece and Rome.

Set to a later  substantial 18ct ring.

Immaculate. Size 7.25. 9.5 grams.Ring top 2cms by 1.5cms.
