Rare Japanese bracelet c.1880 of exquisite chequerboard squares with subtle inlaid designs in gold called Shibuichi work,a traditional technique similar to the more popular Shakudo work.Both processes had been historically used for sword hilts.
The Japanese decorative arts were finally brought to attention of the West after trading links were opened in 1854.
