Exquisite late Georgian old-cut diamond flower brooch/pendant in the form of a five-petaled wild rose c.1820.
The Wild Rose is described in The Etiquette of Flowers as symbolising Pleasure and Pain.
Quite possibly originally an aigrette or part of a tiara, the flower is pave set with a beautiful array of 56 chunky old mine cut diamonds in various shapes and sizes.
Part open and part closed-back silver settings.
The brooch fitting is made to unscrew in the original thread, and the tiny hinged pendant loop can be hidden when not in use.
